It won't have much effect at all in my opinion. The hotel is already
filling up its rooms just fine, averaging about 90% occupancy in most
chains. During the month or so surrounding the Olympics rooms may be
100% full, but that's not too far from things right now. Too much
hoopla surrounding the Olympics.

This stock will continue to suffer for some time due to FOREX losses
as the dollar has plummeted even more since Q4. Moreover, like many
Chinese retail chains (such as NPD), considerable money is being sunk
into expansion and not into shareholders and the bottom line.

Home Inns is a great investment super long term, but I wouldn't expect
much sustainable growth in the near term.

wrong, when demand is exceeding supply, the price level of the hotel
rooms will go up crazy.
like you said, there is an average of 90% occupancy, i expect the
price for the hotel rooms will be up at least 3-5 times due to the
olympic demands.
and dont forget, HMIN had the first loss in last quarter due to huge
expansion, they bought a lot more hotel chains, why? they are waiting
for the 08 olympic to arrive.
and again, think about China, think about Chinese people, how do they
do business?
They are very sensitive about market demand and pricing.  Ethic? this
is no such word in their business dictionary.
HMIN at the $20 level is just like a bargain, get in now and hold it
to the year end.
I am not seeking for a huge return, but will see it at $60 level soon.

Wrong and right, the government already publicly gave permission to
the industry for a maximum of 3x current rate structure for Olympics,
Oct Nov news check.  As for their expansion that is exactly what the
company will be doing with the proceeds buying more property and other
units for expansion.  Short term great investment very long term great
investment.  Once they announce thank you for visiting China for the
Olympics we will take the money and expand BANG goodnight!

One thing everyone is ignoring in the pricing structure (value of
company) is the value of their property they do own.  It seems the
only thing analyst speak too is what they are renting/leasing
hmmm????????  The time to get long will be when they expand outside of
China, otherwise it is a great yo - yo stock you can make a SH___ load
of money on, cheers!

Seems like the speculators have dumped this stock at the end of last
year, maybe because they keep posting losses?  Morningstar seems to
like this stock somehow but I am somewhat suspicious of their
financials, just seem that something is missing here.  Maybe the
Olympics hype will resurrect this stock once again.

As I said earlier last month, I don't think the Olympics will have
much effects at all on this company (and I might add that I'm not
speaking about the movement of HMIN). Indeed, with just two months to
go until this long planned and highly marketed event, MANY hotel rooms
are empty, especially for the lower star chains like those owned by
Home Inns. See http://www.gmanews.tv/story/97763/Many-hotel-rooms-still-vacant-for-B...

This olympics nonsense has blown out of proportion for years.

The director Beijing's tourism burea has expressed shock. I myself am
not that shocked.

I think Home Inns will be fine, but only in the long term (5-10
years). Before then, nargins will drop for several some time to come,
while foreign exchange losses and the government's clamp down on
banking lend won't help either.

I believe during the Olympic game, all the hotels are jack up the
rate.  the occupancy rate for HMIN should be near 100% with the higher
room charge.  Therefor, the profit for HMIN should look better than
normal quarter.

There seems to be resistance at around $19-20 during the recent sell-
off, which is certainly good news that even the short traders
attention got diverted to other overvalued stocks.  Not sure about the
short squeeze but it certainly a good time to jump in, 40 more days
till the Beijing Olympics.

Subject: Re: Beijing's summer Hotels
I am going to have to agree with the people further up in the
discussion, I think the Olympics will fail to have any substantial
increase in the price of HMIN. I actually believe that the Games will
act more as a disruptive force, and by year end HMIN may have been
better off without them. I personally playing this one in the options
market, and have a put a short call on it for the year end.

A few reasons why. First off, advanced bookings are low as of now for
the industry as a whole, leading many to believe that there may be far
fewer tourists at the Games than expected. Second, after the Games are
over, whether they made a killing or not during, the industry will
step back and realize they have a massive over-investment problem.
Occupancy and REVPAR will be way down, rates will have to be slashed
and profits will plummet. The hotel industry is naturally very
cyclical (usually about a 7 year cycle), the Olympic games just pushes
that cycle along faster.

Its odd how this stock is being sold going into the olympics. I know
the rates will be much higher and occupency will be maxed.
I guess the money men our pushing it down, to get in lower for a spike
up later.

You can't rely on one event to spur the stock to shoot through the
roof. Look at the company as a whole. Look at the industry as a whole.
Look at what is going with the market. The olympics should not make or
break a company. Maybe i'm  wrong but the theory of the olympics
making this company seems stupid

I agree 100 percent, you do have to look at the company as a whole. I
was mearly stating it seemed odd that its fallen so far and during a
time when you would think there would be some kind of "China Hype" due
to the up coming Olympics. I think in the long run this company will
make out. I just thought it may have been sooner than later.
