CONFIDENCE IN MANAGEMENT IS LOST.
Interest spread is too high at time of tightening.  The announcement
means TSL failed to raise $1B to finance Vertical Integration.  Some
financial damage is expected to cancel mega sacle equipment purchase
and 1Q08 earnings may disappoint us as a result.
Short term: better cash position and better rating.  Long term: no
more a growth stock.  Sell into strength if you you bought their
growth and switch to STP that already raised $$$ for expansion.

hahah.. its a good thing.. they orginally planned to build the plant
because of an expected shortage of supply... but things have changed..
dont recall where i read it.. perhaps on cnbc.. there is an estimation
that by 2009 or 2010.. silicon supply may outstrip the demand.. hasan
is prob just hurting from his position in stp and would like to get
out of it.. im sticking with my position with tsl and will prob buy

Wrong on three counts. TSL never had to raise $1bn in cash for the
plant, more than half the costs would have been covered by operating
cash flow and profits, the plant was always slated to come onstream in
2010 at the earliest. No financial damage from purchase orders, as
nothing was signed (read the press release carefully and you will
understand) and GT Solar remains a key equipment supplier to TSL. This
is a vote of confidence in the poly-silicon supply situation, scare
stories of supply-demand imbalances until 2010 are overdone.

Overall, prudent decision by the management, following their long-term
contract with GCL Silicon. Refocus of resources on core business
growth rather than backward integration into polysilicon production
will allow faster growth.

Chris.  Things have not changed since TSL inked to purchase $59M poly
plant.  Now it is extremely difficult to raise mega fund against its
balance sheet in China as well as in US.  I track poly spot price and
it actually rose since their poly equipment purchase.  Poly's spot
price is now north of $400/Kg (cost is mere $40/Kg).  I have no
position in STP but maintain positions in TSL that is a trading stock
to me.  I simply advised jaz that, for long-term growth solar, STP is
a safer bet than TSL.  Traders like me prefer TSL as it is more
volatile and provides a lot of opportunites.
See U on May 18 week when TSL announce their 1Q08 earnings.

haha ok buddy you must be right.. thats why the stock is up 6% today..
apparently the street agrees with me.. the problem has been the fear
of companies not being able to obtain silicon supply... tsl has now..
yet again.. said.. that silicon supply is not an issue.. on top of
that there are other things going on where they obviously also thing
prices iwll be down in the future.. if it was worth it they would be
building the plant.. but things have changed.. your wrong.. the street
agrees.. with me

"that silicon supply is not an issue", your right if you want to pay
$400/Kg, instead of make it yourself for $50/Kg. I agree 100% with the
post above, this is good for short term for money but in the long run
when poly supplies are still at least $200/Kg they will not be able to
compete with vertically integrated solar companies.

if you guys knew how companies worked .. or specifically trina solar
you would understand that they are signing supply agreements which are
not at the spot price... the spot is what it is right now to buy it..
it does not mean trina solar is buying at that price.. they have been
signing supply contracts which are extremely liekly to be more
reasonable...  aside from that it is obvious that the cost  (1 billion
dollars) to build a plant does not outweigh the benefit they would get
from producing silicon themselves.. read the article below..
especially the end.. the polysilicon supply issue will no longer be
one in 2 years time.. which means prices will come down if not
sooner.. which means future contracts signed by trina solar are only
more beneficial

DID TSL MANAGEMENT FOOL SHAREHOLDERS ON 03/10/2008?
This deal with GT Solar ($49M) caused dumping of shares by small
investors.
Just one month later, on 04/14/08, Monday, TSL announced they
cancelled the deal.
But, share price started fly on Friday, 04/11/08, amid dow's 256 point
crash, one business day before the announcement.
Does anybody know a good litigation attorney who can protect us from
this mean practice ?

Maybe you weren't around on Friday, but the jump was due to an analyst
revising their estimates.

mean practice.... what kind of idiot are you?.. and anyone with
intelligence would not have dumped the stock with announcement of the
deal.. it was a good deal.. it was ensuring supply..    besides that
the market hit an all time low on that day.. everything was sold
off..panic hit a high that day.. .. seriously.. do your research
before you throw out these ludicrious statements...

TSL is really going UP this time. I can not even imagine where the
stock would be if the market was not that bad. I remember Deutsche
Bank putting a price target of 69$ for the stock before all the
turmoil we are witnessing these months. TSL is ready for a big rise
and i think it will hit 50 again by the end of the month. Just look at
JASO which is highly correlated with TSL. After the stock split, it's
now trading at around 22, which means 66 if we consider the stock
before the split. TSL was never that far from JASO, so...

must be goin up because of all the bad news lately.. especially them
cancelling those plans to build the plant because they have the
audacity to think they wont need it.. (can anyone sense the sarcasm
here?)  anyways.. i love this stock.. it should be at 60 based on
valuation.. or at least how i look at it.. so I will be holding it
unti at least then.. unfortuantely i didnt have money in my account
when it was at 30 .. hurt to miss that move.. i was literally waiting
for money to hit for those few days...  oh well.. a pick up at 35 and
37 aint bad
