I would like to suggest that would only be a wise move if u had
millions...losses wouldnt be so great.....Wall Street continues its
love affair with financials and oil is down...puts pressure on
alternative energy.  This is going to be a slippery slope going into
earnings. just my opinion, of course.

Last time we were here SOLF went up 40% before earnings to around $14
then is jumped to $29 and fell like a rock ever since, stopping along
the way to temp me to buy again at 22, 20, 18, 16, etc.  What an idiot
I am.  I would buy it up at 14 if I had any money left.  I am hoping
for a similar ride this time around so I can sell and right size my
book.

I think market conditions are not what they were at last earnings and
favor may have slipped as have oil price pressure...on cnbc this
morning they are talking about financials being overbought(go figure)
so there might be a little deflection of attention to that sector...my
feeling is this is a play close to the chest. dont assume anything!

posting earnings in solar this week or next.

WFR: SOLAR applications were strong; semi's were weaker than expected.
Hopefully good news for us.

WFR makes materials for solar panels. The solar sector of their
business, was about the only strong point I could find in the report.
They are dropping like a rock in after hrs. Might be a good buying
opportunity tomorrow.

It is the only solar industry earnings out that I could find.

There is some chatter out there about SOLAR energy and fuel cell
alternative energy bill being attached to HOUSE BILL: HR 3221 which
passed today. Can't make heads or tails out of it? At least we got
good news from WFR and SOLAR applications.

I read the bill and see no attachments as described above...Maufi, I
think you are headed for a nervous breakdown..take a deep breath and
ease into earnings...I dont think you're going to get the miracle push
you're looking for.

After his rants this week, and his general hatred of SOLF, I saw no
reason to do his homework.  I pay pretty close attention to my
investments, as well as the various wire services.  Saw nothing, or
I'd have probably posted it, since I'm still bullish.

I agree about "the unspoken one" but didn't want anybody else to get
any lofty ideas..I think he's getting delusional but hopefully not
infectious.

I think this is your key phrase......The following summary was for the
Passage for this bill on 2007-08-04. The bill may have changed since
then.

I know that as of right now, there's no agreement in committee to
extend the tax breaks, but T Boone Pickens is living on the hill, and
hopefully convincing congress of the need for solar subsidies.    But,
his bread and butter is Wind, so his presentations can be assumed to
skew the table in favor of wind.
I have a friend on the hill, clerking on that committee who says the
debate about solar tax credits is mostly philisophical.. free market
v. stimulating the sector.  But, those favoring free-market approach,
which eliminate tax credits, don't have a leg to stand on.  Oil
companies get more tax breaks than any interest in the history of this
country has ever got.

tucker, Pickens is a WIND advocate and "mostly philosophical" and low
oil prices dont feed the bear....literally. I love this stock and am
more invested than I want to be at this point but really...wake up and
smell the coffee

just my opinion, of course

He's advocating Solar as well, not just wind.  I am simply stating
what's going on in committee.

I am fully awake, and far more aware about Congressional action with
regard to solar tax credits than 99% of solar investors.

ok, no insult intended but my point still is....we know who wants what
in congress but its still a political battle and its not going to get
done in time for this Q or probably next Q...new administration,
maybe. So if you're in it for the long run, fine...if not....its
better to deal with what we've got NOW, and frankly the tide is not
with us at the moment.  What's that expression...the bloom is off the
rose.
