When december sales come out, are we going to get a single nation-wide
number indicating retail performance in the states and canada, or do
we get a breakdown per company?

In other words, is it possible to see a dissappointing result on the
whole (including walmart, etc) and a resulting downturn in the overall
market, but see an upswing in LULU because of their individual results?

Lulu will have to make their own announcement if they want any love
for their December sales. If they're good, I'm sure they will do so...
question is will the market care right now? Might have to wait until
the next earnings release in 2 months.

You kow what I had this exact same problem last time, and you can see
it happen with many new IPO's, in between earnings they go down. LULU
went up alot during its last Q report and then down again. It will go
back up right before its next earnings report. But right now its being
hammerd. I got out at 47, and I baught a month before at 37. Its a
great time to load up on shares. I dont think they have anounced when
there next Q report will be.

I'm calling investor relations right now.......I'll pass along
whatever I find out..................most retailers dished out the
scoop on december sales......LULU didn't.....That release is going to
be a big deal though.....it might as well be earnings....it'll take
about 10 seconds to do the math...and then the cat will be out of the
bag on this stock.

What if retail sales are down because everyone spent all of the their
money at lululemon ?????  Yeah....start spreading that rumor....

Schmidt,

I find your postings interesting and oftentimes insightful. You have
to respect a person with an opinion combined with a rationale.

How did the call to Investor Relations go? I have called three of the
stores in Canada and had candid conversations with the Managers. They
had all exceeded their December sales. Others have reported line-ups
through Christmas and into the post-Christmas time (both in the US and
CA). An announcement from Chip seems almost unnecessary yet the stock
is reacting to emotion (apparently fueled by Hedge Fund Managers), not
reason. I certainly understand the influence of Hedge Funds and the
games they play as well as history repeating itself. I was hungover
(thankfully) through most of my College Business classes but I do
remember two things; buy low/sell high and history repeats. It seems
these two things are all I have needed. I bought over 1,000 shares
(just a small player) yesterday at $34.15 (on the TSX). Is an
announcement from Chip or Lulu going to really make that much of a
difference?

Do you trade on the TSX? If so, what other stocks do you play? I would
like to investigate additional stocks as I currently only play Lulu
(LLL) and AAER (AAE). I played Apple for a while but the bank fees
were eating up most of my gains.

I currently trade my RSP account through TD. Is it difficult to trade
RSP accounts through Questrade? I certainly like the fee structures. I
only do between 2 and 10 trades a month.

Hey Terry

Investor relations gave me some disappointing news.  The woman said
they would not be talking about q4 results until the first week in
april ??? At first I assumed there was some miscommunication as to the
question I asked.....afterall...they reported on nov28 right?  Usually
adding three months gets you pretty close to the next earnings
date...The good thing I suppose is that the market will have likely
shaped up by then....a great announcement at a time like this would
kill the steam pretty fast.  I hopped out temporarily here......as far
as the business cycle goes.....we're on a cyclical downturn......after
the financials report earnings this week......that'll be confirmed.
ZERO DOUBT.  Owning cyclical stocks (those that thrive on a growing
economy) during a downturn is stock market suicide.  Thing is....the
prices of the stocks we trade are determined almost soley by mutual
funds hedge funds and large financial institutions......they move the
big money around.....when a cyclical downturn arrives......the rule
across the board for institutions is to dump cyclicals and move into
secular growth......they don't care how "good" a company is.....the
greatest cyclicals out there will get crushed......lululemon, being in
the retail sector, is cyclical........Its levered directly to the
economy.  Thats the biggest reason for the recent decline.........of
course when things are falling like rocks......what's the path of
least resistance leading to a profit going to be for hedge
funds ?????  To Try to buy lululemon as its getting squashed down???
No....of course not....They short the snot out of it and use all of
their firepower to short it down and get it moving even faster.  When
that's over with, then it'll advance.....I could be wrong on
this....In normal / semi-normal markets I call some pretty good
shots....this market is a tough one though.....anyway....LULU is is
sitting on its last real substantive support.....With so much short
interest in the stock....there's going to be lots of incentive to beat
it down past support and get it free falling.....Since this upcoming
week is going to be scary as hell in the market.....there's no way the
bulls can win out......lots of people will sell to get out.....more
short money will come in......and not many people are going to want to
get in front of that steam roller below
support............................not what anyone wants to
hear.....but hey......that might not even happen......and on the plus
side......when shorts do start buying to cover it'll spring forward
with all the momentum in the world......they'll be stepping over
eachother to cover at a low price.....at the same time.....you'll have
buyers no longer scared trying to get in low.............what a market

Oh...you asked about other stocks....I'll tell you where you can find
a gold mine of information on that.....There is a stock with ticker
STV (nyse)......search for it on google and go to the discussion
board.....its an older discussion thread so you'll have click on the
older discussions links......that brings you to all the discussion
threads.....use the search field at the top and type in "stocks we
love"  I started the thread when I was bored over the christmas
holiday.....Some really good investors chimed in with thoughts on the
matter........good luck with that.

Thanks for the reply Schmidt,

It sounds like the only certainty is uncertainty. I appreciate the
double edged sword view you have provided. Is Lulu not announcing
likely as the results are good and they do not want to waste this news
on the current market with all it's turbulence and uncertainty. Is not
the stock worth, ultimately, more than it is trading at (based on
current and conservatively expected results)?

Any thoughts on my 1,000 shares at approximately current market
prices? Selling now seems a little fruitless. How low could this stock
go? I am not a short  player or day trader. I am also only planning to
be in for the next two or so quarters as that is when I expect growth
to taper. I prefer volatile stocks as buy low sell high is easier to
achieve.

Thanks for the referral on possible other stock investments. I look
forward to reading you there as well.

I am in long at 38, and I plan to add to my position again when a
clear buy sign is given.  All I know is that I was in the store
yesterday and it was literally mayhem.  Unbelievable.  It is
interesting to see the disconnect between the day to day business of
the stores, which are doing awesome, and its SP in the markets.

I'm happy after seeing the stores, I suggest to anyone holding and
feeling uncertain to go check a store on a weekend when it will be
busiest, to see for yourself how great the company is.  You will
probably feel alot better about the volatility after that.

The one thing I don't have is time.  I have some Feb Calls hoping for
an upswing, but the closer to expiry we get...

I thought we were at the bottom a few days back. Apparently we are
not. Like you I am buying small lots here and there. I really thought
$32 (on the TSX) was the bottom. We are heading to $31 now. Perhaps
Wednesday will bring some positive news and drive things back up a
little.
