This an ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) that follows the Ardour Global
Index. Think of an ETF as a mutual fund that you don't have to wait
until the market close to trade.

Peak oil was supposed to happen a few years ago...nothing has changed.

I bought it today (over the US index PBW) because I don't think the US
is competitive in alternative energy, but foreign countries are headed
that way.

That's a pretty uninformed statement.  Have you noticed the price of
oil lately?

Peak oil is coming, and may be happening already.  It's a process that
will take years, and is really more of a plateau than a peak as viewed
in the short term.  As traditional oil sources peak out, the price is
driven up, making alternative sources such as oil sands commercially
viable.  That then increases supply temporarily, forstalling the
inevitable decline in production.

As long as we avoid another early-90s type price crash (and I'm pretty
sure the big oil companies have that covered), companies such as
Suncor will continue to increase in value.
