didn't know that, I can buy everything in europe and the states
overhere (from portugal bank),
but most online international brokers would have the same and even
more then my local bank I guess?

Trading around the globe, I would like to know also if there is a cost
efective way,
would be nice to invest in Eastern markets besides the ones available
in the U.S.

Many of the companies in these renewable energy ETFs are in Europe.
The average individual investor does not have access to these
companies through US-based individual brokerage accounts.  A way to
invest in overseas investments is through either ETFs or mutual funds
that have access to foreign markets.  If you have a cost-effective
methodology to invest in overseas markets in a variety of exchanges
across the globe, I am very interested in reading about this.

I don't understand why people buy ETF's, why not buy only the goodies?
Why do you want to buy the bad once also?

This ETF certainly has come down a long way from its $60 peak.
However, look at the average P/E ratio of the underlying stocks:
according the the prospectus, back in October the P/E was 44!! It
might have come down a bit since then, but it's still much too costly
for my taste... might very well dip a lot lower before it gets higher.

I'm buying more based Paul Schiff's observations and predictions. In
particular, a sudden downturn in the dollar is imminent and overseas
equities will become more attractive. I'm a weekly trader, long on
GEX, GLD and USO.

what "bigger fish" than employment, innovation and energy security?

Choice 1 -- old economic view  - import oil, place people on
unemployment benefit checks and have them sit at home.  Oh and keep
people dying in Iraq at a cost of around $10 billion a month.

Choice 2 -- new economic view - tax incentives for the development of
domestic sources of energy, development of US made electric vehicles,
employ and educate people for the next paradigm.

It takes a lot of water to cool a conventional power plant.   Advanced
electric grid management, developed by US-based electrical engineers
and deployed by American workers coupled with American university-
based advanced energy research (in collaboration with the Dept. of
Energies' national labs -- aka Oak Ridge and Sandia) with combined
solar, wind, advanced battery and advanced renewable fuels will
require a lot of people working.  And guess what?  These people would
pay social security taxes, pay Medicare taxes and buy things.  Will
this require massive spending to get the ball rolling?  It did in the
1930s.

Long term this may be a buy, but for now, no way.  Oil prices down,
economy crumbling before our eyes.  Obama will definitely increase
spending on alternative energy, but he has bigger fish to fry first
and itll be a few years before we see any significant improvement here.

And now with Waxman as the new chairman of the energy committee, I
would think that alternative energy companies will see their orders on
the rise.

Reports are that Obama will move forward with big infrastructure
spending on public transportation, and alternative energy. That, to me
is not nothing for GEX.

Anyone have ideas about how dramatic government spending will impact
GEX vis. other stocks and EFTs?  Presumably, stimulus is stimulus is
stimulus, and any smart fiscal policy in this direction will by
definition, not be ineffectual on the underlying stocks, or the sector.

It might be - it's down worse than the overall market. People are
thinking shorter term, it seems, what with Oil being down. I just
bought 100 shares of this... i imagine at some time, in my life, i'll
be able to sell it for 100/share, if not more.

When I actually thought to myself, "what would I like to own for the
next 15-20 years" this was it. I did all my research into the various
alt-energy etf's and decided on this one. I've never been happier with
an investment in my life and I haven't even made any money on it.

Whether or not this is affected by the election is one thing, and
short term. However, if we plan to continue living on this planet for
more than another 50-100 years we're going to need companies like this
to do what they do. So whether they change the companies in the index
or not, I don't really care as long as they all trying to achieve the
same thing - renewable energy.

If this index goes any lower, say to 10-15 i will most definitely
double down. I don't know if there's anything else I know about that
will be so important to the world for the next 20 years. Amazing
opportunity to get involved.
