Subject: What is the situation on Bankruptcy bill ?
The biggest risk to DFS is the bill allowing bankruptcy judges to
readjust mortgages. This will set off a rush to bankruptcy and be down right disaster.
Any one know what is the latest status of the bill ? Is it dead or

My understanding of bankruptcy is limited, but I would think it
wouldn't make a difference on who chose to file bankruptcy. Rather, I think it would make a difference in choosing to file Ch. 13 (since there's a better chance to keep the house) than Ch. 7. This is marginally better for DFS, in actuality, because Ch. 7 produces no payback of outstanding unsecured debt, but Ch. 13 gives DFS a (slim) chance at recovering losses (I believe they can file a claim even as an unsecured credit card company). People who would "rush to bankruptcy" are already close to the ledge,
