"We do not have two political parties in this country, America. We
have one party; called the Big Government Party. The Republican wing
likes deficits, war, and assaults on civil liberties. The Democratic
wing likes wealth transfer, taxes, and assaults on commercial
liberties. Both parties like power; and neither is interested in your
freedoms. Think about it. Government is the negation of freedom.
Freedom is your power and ability to follow your own free will and
your own conscience. The government wants you to follow the will of
some faceless bureaucrat.

When I recently asked Congressman James Clyburn, the third ranking
Democrat in the House, to tell me "Where in the Constitution the
federal government is authorized to regulate everyone's healthcare--,
he replied that most of what Congress does is not authorized by the
Constitution, but they do it anyway. There you have it. Congress
recognizes no limits on its power. It doesn't care about the
Constitution, it doesn't care about your inalienable rights, it
doesn't care about the liberties protected by the Bill of Rights, it
doesn't even read the laws it writes."

That is as profound as anything I see on this board.

None of these politicians has any agenda but enriching themselves and
pursuing their jobs - LAWMAKERS.

The original Constitution is a simplistic document laying out the
foundations. It didn't allow for a Nation of 300 million people and
spy drones. Our Constitution is long gone, a relic, as the USG has
expanded it's powers under every Administration and ever power shift.

Welcome to Y2K. You are not a free man, you are a number.

Because I care more about civil liberties than I do about fiscal
responsibility, I voted for Obama. I wish I had voted for Viking
instead.

I'm getting pretty annoyed with Obama and this health care
monstrosity. All I wanted was a public option so everyone could buy
insurance at a reasonable price if they couldn't get covered
elsewhere. I didn't want 2000 freakin pages of bureaucracy. Our
economy is getting pretty weird and they better start paying attention
to that instead.

IMHO,
Jabber

As simple as freedom to chose health insurance, doctor, medication.
Not all f this might come in effect immediately, but the policy of
incrementalism toward socialism will take us there. There will come a
day when health care is "free", but all pills are generic :)
Oh wait, we will be broke in just a few years. No health-care for
anyone - at least it is fair that we all share the misery.

Freedom to not bend one's back work for the govt 6+ months out 12.
Those who are well-to-do and to-pay-large-chunk-of-taxes will not go
that route.
They will say ... you know what? Fvck this! I ain't feeding this
wealfare state.
I am taking my wealth to Liechtenstein. The only way to stop that is
sanctions or war.
Either approach fvcks us all and is unsustainable.

Credo, I know that you know how to read. How does this not make sense
to you?
Most taxes are not paid by credos. They are paid by Bill Gates, MSFT
employees, etc.
What if Microsoft moved out of USA? What if other companies followed
the suit?

Think about it. Business is mostly common sense. It cannot be that
hard.

Most prescription plans and insurance plans already have restrictions
on what drugs, services are covered.  Preexisting conditions needs to
be addressed as well as anti-trust laws.

We're going to have reform, that's a given.  The Republican plan is a
joke:

Using Huffington as a source is the same but opposite of using Fox as

All we need is that Public Option plan. That covers the uninsurable
and yeah, it will cost money but NOTHING like to monstrosity that
approaches. The Reps want to give too little, the Dems too much.

Also, the Reps tort reform IS a good idea. Fvckin lawyers.

When insurance tells me no, I pay cash.

Double taxation will cripple progress.

You don't see any faults in your govt whatsoever? You've been

Money and brains will leave this country, and financially poor

You consider yourself an adult?

I paid cash for my eye exam. I had a choice: 15 minute exam + $15
copay using insurance, or 45 minutes + $75 cash.
I chose to pay cash, and it was one of the best decisions ever. If you
youtube ron paul on healthcare, you will understand (hopefully).

Most are illegal, unemployed, or don't want to roll the dice and make
them pay for healthcare.

Those that are illegal, need to go.
We'd like to put the unemployed to work.
People shouldn't be forced to pay for healthcare if they don't want
it.  If you want to join the rate pool later, you should pay a premium
to join.

Tort reform is needed.
We need a way to address the pre-existing condition problem.

You whining lefties who are worried about personal liberties are gonna
sing me a new tune once the G is paying for your healthcare.
You won't be smokin tobacco, weed, or crack.
You won't be eating the foods you like.
You won't be having the butt sex you like.
You won't get to live as long as you like.
Each of those behaviors drive up healthcare costs.....

And of course actual healthcare will become like a visit to the Motor
Vehicles Dept.

Will Obama cover 100%? How about the 6 month waiting period to get
covered? How is this not rationing?
Let me guess - nope, he won't! The cost of perfecting grows
exponentially.
Healthcare is an expensive item even assuming that intelligent reforms
are passed.
The 10M uninsured can depend on private charities. Yup, private
charities!
Easily 5M people do not want any health insurance - they'd rather pay
cash for everything because they can.
Ron Paul plans to eliminate personal income tax altogether gradually -
leaves lots of money for charitable donations.
Is he a dreamer? No! He will cut the size of govt to 10% of its
current size and he will pull out military from abroad.
Money matters. Money makes the world go round. Smooth talk is cheap.

HEALTHCARE AIN'T A RIGHT!

The richest person 50 years ago could not dream of things that an
illegal alien can get today free.
Both market and the govt can only provide what is available, but the
markets have the ability to innovate.

Viking, you do know the job of Congress is to pass laws, don't you?
It's the court's job to decide if they are constitutional. It's called
checks and balances. Obviously Congress doesn't ignore the
Constitution; they know it is a waste of time if their laws get struck
down.

To say that a Congressman claims that they have unlimited power, and
therefore they don't care about your rights or liberties is a little
out there, don't ya know? Outside of the Constitution, yes they do
have considerable power to achieve whatever ends they want. But
practically speaking, do you think they all act in unison to strip our
rights whenever they can? That would be like trying to herd cats. The
only way to get cats in line is to bribe them. I think the biggest
threat to our liberties is the lobbyists.

Whether they all read every word of every law that they pass is a
little stickier. It would be nice, but what do you propose? A pop
quiz? Do you read every word of the tax code before paying taxes? It's
only 16,845 pages long. BTW, the tax code is nine times longer than
the Bible. The only way to make it shorter than the Bible is to let
Congress revise the Bible.

I am with you on the lobbyists brother.  But I think the path to
achieve that is a pre and post term audit of each member of Congress.
These guys start out with nothing and after years of public service

I'm still with you.  How about we up the ante though:
 - Only personal contributions.  no 501s, corporations, or unions.
 - Term limits.  Represent and git.  We don't need Pelosi clingons.

I'd subtract publicly financed campaigns.  I wouldn't mind the
occasional co-opt of the public airwaves for fair debates though.
