DOW low is around 10800 right?
So it's possible we can hit that support for a test and bounce or
crack...
We might not go to 10800, but it is a chance I think.

The lowest in recent times the DOW went was right after 9-11.

So if we see another major event we could see lows like
we did in 2002.

For those who don't remember that number was 7,500.

Hopefully the problems with Iran, Russia, Financials,
Peak Oil, do not end up being a "perfect storm".

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

excessive credit expansion ruled the economy. With credit facilities
shrinking and consumers unable to continue using credit to leverage
themselves it will bring a dark cold winter for the markets. 10K is
coming, these bear rallies will end when the winter makes its way.

Read 1929 Rainbows End. It is like reading a playbook of what is
happening. Excessive credit expansion, people using leverage to buy
equities (homes this time), people using paper profits to take out
loans to buy things causing expansion of the economy due to the
purchasing of goods and services from taking on debt based on paper
profits. Every tom dick and harry talking about how they are making a
killing (like what happened with the housing/dotcom bubble today) Fed
continually dropping the interest rates trying to keep the bear going.
Pundits (WSJ etc..) touting the never ending bear market how the
economy is fine. And even the bear rallies that would come and go
etc..

I suggest reading the book.

Actually this is a far better description, and it's written by
Bernanke too:

http://www.federalreserve.gov/pubs/feds/2004/200448/200448abs.html

Monetary Policy Alternatives at the Zero Bound: An Empirical
Assessment
Ben S. Bernanke, Vincent R. Reinhart, and Brian P. Sack
2004-48

Abstract: The success over the years in reducing inflation and,
consequently, the average level of nominal interest rates has
increased the likelihood that the nominal policy interest rate may
become constrained by the zero lower bound. When that happens, a
central bank can no longer stimulate aggregate demand by further
interest-rate reductions and must rely on "non-standard" policy
alternatives. To assess the potential effectiveness of such policies,
we analyze the behavior of selected asset prices over short periods
surrounding central bank statements or other types of financial or
economic news and estimate "no-arbitrage" models of the term structure
for the United States and Japan. There is some evidence that central
bank communications can help to shape public expectations of future
policy actions and that asset purchases in large volume by a central
bank would be able to affect the price or yield of the targeted asset.

Just rediculous. The U.S. is only a tiny part of the
world polulation, and the rest of the world is rising
in standard of living by leaps and bounds. The old
demand destruction argument is finished now.
The serious discussion is terminal decline in oil
production, which has already started in 60 countries,
and is expected to start globally soon if it hasn't
already started.

Get ready for a real rush on the remaining supplies.

My favorite book was written in 1992, "The Great Boom Ahead" which
predicted the rapid rise in the stock market through the 90's till
about 2004-2005. Then the retiring baby boomers will take over and
spend less money. That will lead to deflation, a drop in the stock
market of about 20% for about 15 years. Then the next generation will
be kicking out kids, buying homes, and spending money..
